FEEDBACK ANALYSIS AND REWARDS /CORRECTIVE MEASURES TAKEN

  • The Institute aims to offer the best possible environment and learning experience to encourage the students to perform according to their full potential for academic achievement. Students, teachers, parents and alumni play an important role in the evaluation, development and enhancement of the quality of this learning experience. Feedback from students, teachers, parents and alumni helps the college to evaluate how its service policies make changes as per stakeholder’s requirements.
  • The Feedback Process has put up an emphasis on the need for involvement of students in quality assurance of higher education. Student involvement requires students to involve and act as collaborators rather than merely passive receivers of, teaching and learning process.

STUDENTS’ FEEDBACK COLLECTION

  • Preliminary feedback : is taken within 4 weeks of commencement of every new semester and any suggestions/problems/appreciations given by the students are discussed with the concerned faculty and Head of the Department. The faculty who receives a poor feedback is further counseled by the HOD and the Principal.
  • The feedback is taken from at least 50% of students from the class of those who are regular to classes.
  • Final feedback is taken before the end of the semester for each faculty in every subject and the feedback is not shared with the faculty until the beginning of the following semester.
  • Consideration of preliminary and final feedback as an aggregate appreciation is given for those faculties who get a good feedback where a “BEST TEACHER” award (50% weight age is given to the student’s final feedback.)

METHOD FOLLOWED FOR COLLECTION OF FEEDBACK

  • A students’ feedback format was prepared after a number of discussions with the faculty and undergoes time to time modification as and when required.
  • All the students of each class are given an opportunity to express their opinion with regard to effectiveness in teaching by the faculty, which are detailed in the feedback form.
  • Opinion of the students are taken within 4 weeks of commencement of each semester which helps the college to take corrective measures at an early stage. This also helps the teachers in improving their teaching methodology.
  • However, the result of the preliminary feedback is not taken as a criterion for judging the best teacher. It is only utilized by the teachers as guidance for improvement.
  • there are always possibilities of certain students in developing prejudices against a teacher if he/ she are a strict disciplinarian. This may lead to a negative impression about the teacher concerned. This factor is taken into consideration while analyzing the final students’ feedback.

METHOD FOLLOWED FOR FEEDBACK ANALYSIS

  • As a corrective measure against such prejudices, 10% of the worst opinions are not considered while analyzing the feedback. However, the experience of the college shows that the feedback is largely based on the teaching efficiency of a faculty irrespective of his/ her strictness.
  • It has been functioning well and is integrated into teaching excellence awards being conferred by the college wherein half the weightage is reserved for students’ feedback.
  • Faculty who gets a feedback of less than 70%, proper counseling is given in the presence of the concerned HOD and Principal to improve their performance in the future.
  • Apart from this, the students can voice their grievances to the college email other channels. Email: [email protected] Regular meetings with the Principal, Vice Principal and few students from each class are held to get an update regarding syllabus completion, teaching methodology, conduct of teaching, non-teaching and administrative staff, facilities and infrastructure.
  • A syllabus review meeting is also held every fortnight and prompt measures are taken in case of any issues brought to notice by the students. By considering the faculty feedback given by students, the best teachers are noted and awarded. Efficient counseling is provided to the faculty with poor feedback.
