Pharm.D (PB) is a Three year course. This course is approved by Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) and introduced in the year 2008 in India. Pharm.D (PB) is aimed to give thorough knowledge & skills for pharmacy practice in India. The course is oriented towards the patient safety & therapeutic benefits. The curriculum includes Two years of theoretical and practical exposure in clinical pharmacy hospital visit and one year (3rd year) of internship in the hospital.
Admission Procedure
To get admission into Pharm.D(PB) course the candidate must pass B.Pharmacy from a recognized university. Admissions into Pharm.D(PB) course will be through web counseling based on GPAT and TS PGECET rank. 70% of seats are filled through the GPAT and TS PGECET ranks by the Convenor and 30% seats are filled by the management, based on the merit at TS PGECET rank or B.Pharmacy marks percentage or as per the State government prescribed rules from time to time. The reservation in admissions is as per the State Government Reservation policy.
Schedule of Admissions
Convenor (General) Quota : Category - A
Usually the admissions by the TS PGECET Convenor start in July / August and may vary from year to year. After the counseling, the left over seats shall be filled by the colleges through spot admission procedure according to the rules prescribed by the State Government.
Management Quota : Category - B
The Management Seats (Category-B) are filled by the Management as per the schedule and rules prescribed by the State Government Fee.
State Govt.reviews the tuition & other fee every 3 years or as the case may be for every college.
Pharm.D (PB) is a professional degree honored for students who undergo their graduation course in Pharmacy Doctoral Programme. The Pharm.D (PB) took its origin from a Latin word Pharmacie Doctor’ signifying ‘Doctor of Pharmacy’. The pharmacy education in India is under the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) which initiated the 3 years Pharm.D (PB) course in India from the year 2008. The course is registered under the Pharmacy Act of 1948.
